I want to share a cool DIY weekend project that’s both healthy and fun for the entire family. It’s my take on what some wild edibles enthusiasts call “Cowboy Coffee.” This recipe uses foraged dandelion roots and tastes delicious! Best of all, since dandelions are bountiful just about everywhere, this mini mission is easy to complete without spending money or leaving your house. Are you intrigued yet? You should be!
A few weekends ago, I foraged my backyard for dandelion roots. I collected a few hefty handfuls and gave them a thorough wash with the garden hose. Then, I roasted them up in a pan, ground the charred bits in a coffee grinder, and brewed them in a French press. My efforts were instantly rewarded with a bold and delightful coffee-like drink bearing gentle hazelnut undertones. I reckon you should try it too! I filmed the entire process from start to finished and published a YouTube video with detailed instructions. Give it a peek below!
