Wild Edible Summer

21 Aug

As summer comes to an end let’s make a push to eat more wild edibles while they are in season. One of most prevalent edibles in late August is the dandelion. In previous videos I have discussed how to use dandelion greens in smoothies, salads, and pesto. But what about the flowers?

Dandelion flowers are extremely edible and nutritious. The flowers are a great source of vitamin D. Like dandelion greens, the flowers detoxify inner organs, and alkalize the body. The following video demonstrates three fun ways to eat dandelion flowers: YouTube Preview Image

While harvesting wild edibles, it is wise to exercise caution and use common sense to prevent mishap. If you are not sure that something is edible, don’t eat it! Please enjoy wild edibles responsibly. Here is my funny new music video about wild edibles: YouTube Preview Image
